…Words of courage, of hope, of faith…Of dreams! Dreams…Yes Dreams! To have a dream means you have to believe there is a future…Your future! A future after cancer…A smile, the light…Cancer does suck! Being a patient sucks…Surgery sucks, chemo sucks, radiation sucks, making those hard decisions…Finding out how far and how much you are willing to sacrifice to see tomorrow! To live! We have fought long and hard, and after the initial fight is over we continue to fight everyday…The reflection in the mirror, the anxiety that builds every time we think of our cancer coming back…The thought of being forced to leave all those you love behind…
I had a CT scan done recently and when the saline taste hit my tongue…I wanted to drop to my knees, cry…I thought I can’t do this again…If my cancer came back I don’t think I could subject myself to treatment again. It’s as if every ache, every pain, every miserable second flashed through every fiber of my body…injected straight in my vein!
I left the CT scan a better person, reminded of all that I have, all that I could lose…Rejuvenated to live each day as if it was my last…As a gift, because it truly is!
So DREAM BIG! Dream a lot, Dream until you cannot dream no more! Reach for the stars because to those around…you are their star! Shining bright through your struggles, through your loss, past cancer, in to the future.
The next time you look at yourself in the mirror SMILE, smile even as you reflect on your sacrifice, be reminded how hard you fought and how much you were willing to give! Because you made it! You are here! My question to you is, what are you going to do now that you made it? What are you going to do with your second life? The Lessons that you have learned…Don’t let cancer take your dreams!
And then take those Dreams, plant those seeds deep within your soul, write them down, pray on them, speak life in to them…Watch them take root!!!!
As with any thing that has roots you have to water them, give them light, feed them…You will be amazed! Fruits will start to grow, and your dreams will come to life!
