Pink Ribbon Cooking

Breast Cancer Survivors will often describe the sisterhood as an exclusive club you don’t want to be in, but once you are forced in -it’s an amazing place to be! Can the same be said for our caregivers? What club do they belong in? I think caregivers are often overlooked and forgotten -when the impact of a loved ones diagnosis can be just as devastating in their lives…Debilitating, live changing!…and just as survivors, caregivers must decide to get up and dust themselves off…and move on? Or can they have just as much stake in the fight- can they also be movers and shakers?… The answer is… YES!

Chef Curtiss Hemm decided to fight back!!! Hemm is the founder and Executive Director of Pink Ribbon Cooking, LLC.

Through Pink Ribbon Cooking, Chef Curtiss Hemm express his desire and passion for helping those going through treatment as it is reflected through the wealth of free tips, ebooks, and resources developed specifically to assist patients and caregivers in preparing healthy and delicious meals made available through organizations website…Web features information on Breast Cancer,”Cooking Through Chemotherapy,” “Cooking for others in Treatment,” “Cooking through Chemo Recipes,” and much more!
Through his wife’s breast cancer diagnosis, the loss of her mother to lung cancer and seeing the culinary deficit first hand Curtiss decided to get up dust himself off and use his talent as a former Dean of Culinary Arts and Director of Online Programs at the New England Culinary Institute as well as his experience as instructor and program coordinator at Paul Smith’s College of Arts and Science, to work with Oncologists to develop delicious recipes that promote health, well-being and an overall positive prognosis.
Smart food consumption in general can positively impact ones overall health, well-being…and may even prevent cancer all together…Thus is vital during Breast Cancer treatment. Healthy eating during treatment keeps the body strong, boost ones mood, provides assistance in allowing the body to better cope with side effects as well as repairing tissues that have been damage during treatment, and one of the most important benefits…Fighting off infections which can be life threatening!
BUT! What about doing the research and taking the time to make those smart choices…How do we find time to learn how to cook healthy especially during treatment? Healthy foods simple do not make it past those taste buds! … Chef Curtiss realized this fact and has generously completed the leg work for you!

“In essence people increasingly do not know how to cook or make food for themselves. The modern “Gourmet” is one that eats out often, not cooking.

This troubled me as the only way to improve our health through food is to walk away from processed, boxed food. This requires knowledge, coaching and skill acquisition. Where do people get this when they need it? No where. So I built it.

We have the ability to be in the kitchen when we people need us, on their tablet, laptop or phone. I took my expertise in Culinary Arts and technology and applied them to cancer prevention, survivorship and helping people live a delicious life.” Curtiss Hemm
